Today we discussed fund raiser ideas for this Spring. Funds would go towards projects / causes outside of the children education realm that our mini grants cover. Rotary Foundation Dinner coming up January 20, 2021 - join via ZOOM - register below: Our district continues to participate in the Rotary Int'l 90 yr legacy of sponsoring intercultural youth exchange. Presently for 2021, our district has 4 high school applicants. One for a short term (summer) exchange and three for the 2021-22 long term (1 academic year) exchange. The district has chosen to continue to move forward on this important activity yet are mindful that the exchanges are dependent on conditions in the U.S. and partnering countries.. 5,000 masks coming our way next Monday from District 7890 We will need an extra hand to pick up and deliver to Agape, Brians Angels, possibly schools, hospitals, Bristol Boys and Girls Club .jpg) ATTENTION: Looking for Speakers. Suggestions were made to get a speaker from Bristol Health to talk about the pandemic / mental health; someone from the business community, Pat Stebbins - homeless population, BBHD - Marco Palmeri (Les will contact), Public works - talking about recycling and sorting Updates from the Club News from Whit: session opens Wednesday - he explained the plan to be sworn in outside and then go into their offices - vote there. Lots of controversial topics coming up - public will have opportunity to participate.  Clayton Laferriere wishes everyone a Happy New Year - he wants everyone to know he recently gave up riding his motorcycle! Whit - Gave $5 for birthday – announced that everyone has to sing to him (we didn't). Hopeful Buck for a New Year 2021 – 2020 was awful. Suggested everyone give $10 for year to cover happy bucks – except those over 70  . Could send $ in with dues....could be used for as a sunshine fund. Also brought up the idea of rotary member memorial fund– For example giving $ for the recent passing of Gerry Murphy. Whit also suggests that we start the meeting by sharing a good or hopeful story (we will start this next Tuesday) Laura - Update regarding our sweet Cocoa bear since her cancer diagnosis - she is doing well with her new diet + vitamins - we are enjoying every minute with her |
