Mario joined the club to give a  Scholarship Program Update
Our Rotary Scholarship initiative stands as a cornerstone of our community outreach, surpassing even the Youth Exchange in significance. With a legacy of millions in awards, this program is a testament to our commitment to education and youth development. It's a unique opportunity that many would aspire to, and we are privileged to manage it.
Program Overview:
  • History: Since 1990, we've awarded scholarships to high school seniors from our two local high schools, providing $8,000 each, renewable for 3 years
  • Current Status: The program is active, with recent donations bolstering our funds.
  • Next Steps: We are currently seeking a Chairperson to lead this important initiative.
Action Items:
  • Preparation: Finalize the scholarship agenda, including a brief biography of each recipient.
  • Promotion: Going forward, utilize the Bristol Edition to advertise the program and ensure parents are informed.
  • Documentation: Prepare a financial statement, including details on investments managed by Morgan Stanley, insurance, and tax filings.
This scholarship program is a testament to our club's dedication to fostering educational opportunities. Your involvement and support are crucial to its continued success.

Youth Exchange Program Update
The Youth Exchange program remains active and is gaining momentum. Dave is collaborating with Shelby Pons, who has been instrumental in providing valuable information about the committee's policies. She has expressed enthusiasm for our project and is eager to review our presentation. Although the program's availability this year is uncertain, we must take into account the 12-week timeframe required to obtain a student visa.
A policy meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, and Dave is unable to attend due to a prior board commitment; he will prepare a comprehensive write-up to support our case. If you can attend the meeting, contact John.  Let's continue to work together to ensure the success of this program.
Alternatively, John is looking to secure a  Wolcott family to host the France student, more details to come.
