Upcoming Commitments & Events:

  • June 16: Next commitment for Zion dinner. Also looking into helping out at Agape, they are open 8-12.  Agape only serves hot food in order to have clients from, ideas would be crock pot meals and bread.
  • May 8:  Norm and Mark share a birthday, May birthdays celebrated next week – Norm has something up his sleeve!
Community Updates:
  • International Student: Concerns about a negative message from the Board of Ed regarding our wish to host a girl from France.  John or Whit will respond to them to ensure communication is clear. A copy will be sent to the City Council, including BOE and the mayor.
  • The NEW Bristol Magazine will be reaching 26,000 families.
Mother’s Day Flowers:
  • 72 orders for Mother’s Day flowers in thus far. Pickup is Thursday, May 8 and arrangements will be made to have a truck at noon with pickup at 2 pm – looking forward to this photo opportunity!
Scholarship Update:
  • Mario has contacted all 9 scholarship recipients, and they have been invited to the June 8th celebration
Mini Grants:
  • Committee met on 5/5/25, 11 grants approved, a few need tweaking to ensure they fall under our grant specifications
Other Events:
  • Junior Achievement: Event in Hartford on May 15.
  • Carousel Conference: May 16-19 $250
  • Harvest Pack Event: May 17, aiming to pack 27,000 meals.
  • Bougee Bingo for Alzheimer's – June 19 at Kind Care – does Rotary want to sponsor a basket for raffle?
Ornament Sales:
  • Our ornaments to be featured in church bulletins, farmers market (June 21), West End Festival (August 16), as well as Bristol Blues games

Dave, weather break on Thursday. The Diversity Council recently hosted a successful meet and greet, which generated increased interest and engagement. The event highlighted a diversity of thought and skill sets, with attendees sharing their personal backgrounds and promoting their businesses. Inspired by the positive response, the council plans to host similar events 2–3 times a year, ideally in larger venues to accommodate growing participation. The theme of the gathering was “Unity in the Community
