"The first meeting of the Bristol Rotary was held May 5, 1927 at Chippanee Country Club. The Torrington Rotary Club was sponsor of the Bristol Rotary Club. District Governor, Allen D. Colvin of Hartford, was present and assisted in organizing the Club.
Paul B. Sessions was elected first president of Bristol Rotary (J.H. Sessions and Son), William P. Calder (Bristol Bank and Trust Company, father of Rotarian George T. Calder) vice president, and James G. Dobson, (Executive Director of the Bristol Boys Club) secretary-treasurer.
Other Charter members were: Henry W. Armstrong, George Blackall, George S. Beach, Carl E. Carlson, Peter Cawley, W. Raymond Crumb, Lous Funk, Dwight Hall, Edward Ingraham, Alex J. Koziell, David A. Lipman, Edward W. Mink, Sr. (father of Rotarian Townsend Mink), S. Russell Mink, Karl A. Reiche, Harry Russell, W. Kenneth Sessions, Lester Sigourney, Ray O. Staples, William E. Application for Charter was made on May 5, and on May 23 the Bristol Club was notified of Rotary International Membership. Plans proceeded for Charter Night which was held at Lake Compounce, Thursday evening, September 8" (1975, Membership Directory Bristol Rotary Club).
